Two New Jersey men are accused of stealing, or trying to steal, money from Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s personal bank accounts. Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau says the banks first notified his office about the situation in August.

Two local middle school teachers are in hot water after assigning students a controversial project on slavery that’s angered parents. Over 100 sixth graders at Grover Cleveland Middle School in Caldwell spent several days last week taking part in an assignment where they used terms like “build a plantation” while completing their “Lap of Luxury” social studies project.

Everywhere Alex Rodriguez went, the lenses were on him. When he took batting practice, the cameras clicked. In the clubhouse, so many mini-cams wanted to capture his words and image that he had to move away from his locker to the center of the room. Not that he had much to say, just a collection of clich?s so old that he probably chuckled to himself as he said them. He?s made a concentrated effort since spring training not to reveal his thinking, to focus on the field.
